Alumni Reflection

Kayla Friedlander

Hi, my name is Kayla Friedlander. I went to IDEAL Middle School for three years and graduated in 2017. Now, I attend Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches, which was the perfect fit for me and the perfect transition from IDEAL.

IDEAL is an amazing school that I was very lucky to attend. All the teachers are very kind. While at IDEAL, I learned so much about myself. Because of the loving environment, I was able to build confidence in myself. Learning the multiple intelligences allowed me to become a better student. Understanding my emotions taught me how to deal with stressful situations. By the time I left IDEAL, I was a person that was more comfortable to be me.

After attending IDEAL, I opened myself up to many new opportunities which I would have never dreamed of doing before. I also have been doing theatre for five years, in fact, I’m in the Honors Performance Ensemble class at Oxbridge. I was the stage manager for the musical The Wizard of Oz. Now, as I’m getting ready to enter my junior year of high school, I’m starting to feel more confident in myself and I’m also starting to believe in myself. Oxbridge has a program that not many high schools have called a writing center, which is a place where students can come and get help with their essays. I have recently been a tutor in training and will become a WRC tutor by the end of this school year. I also have been recommended for Honors English next year, something I thought I would never accomplish before IDEAL.

I want to thank all the IDEAL teachers for getting me where I am today. I couldn’t have done it without you! The skills that you have given me have helped me to grow in ways that I never thought I would. Thank you.
