Kali Ashurst

My name is Kali Ashurst. I was at IDEAL from Pre-K to the 8th Grade, graduating in 2012. I attended G-Star School of the Arts in the International Baccalaureate program. I did theatre in high school and was a part of the International Thespian Society. I was also a member of the publicity committee for National Honors Society. In the IB Program, one of the requirements is the completion of Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), which allows students to work outside of their academic studies. I served as co-president of CAS club and built a golf course to help raise over $500 for Quantum House, which is a supportive home for families whose children are receiving treatment. I also ranked number one in my class.

After graduating from G-Star School of the Arts, I started school at the University of Florida. I am majoring in Psychology and Theatre with a minor in Communication Studies. I was also admitted into the University Honors program. I now serve as the Production Manager of one of the largest organizations on campus, a student-run theatre club called Florida Players. I also stage manage for the School of Theatre and Dance. Last summer, I was a production management intern for Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City. I am hoping to pursue a career in theatre management. IDEAL gave me the skills and tools to believe in myself and to follow my dreams. The teachers at IDEAL created a safe learning environment in which I could grow and flourish, both intellectually and emotionally.

IDEAL prepared me for my future by teaching me about emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and leadership. Wherever life takes me, I know that the time I spent at IDEAL will forever hold a special place in my heart.
