My name is Camila Ramirez and I attended IDEAL from Pre-K to 8th Grade. I graduated in 2014.
After I graduated from IDEAL, I was off to American Heritage. In high school, I was constantly competing in different art competitions. I have won a few awards. My art has been displayed in various parts of the country. During my time in high school, I was the president of the Fashion Design Club. Part of my role as president was to help my club members with their college portfolios. I am currently attending the Savannah College of Art and Design.
At IDEAL, I remember being encouraged to truly do whatever I wanted. I was always drawing and sketching in my classes but I thought I couldn’t be an artist because it was impractical. I will always have the memories of the teachers telling me “You can do whatever you want. If you want to be a doctor go ahead, but if you want to be an artist, that’s what you should do.” That’s paraphrased, obviously. At IDEAL, I learned how I learn and what makes me happy. It’s this mentality that helped me decide studying medicine wasn’t for me. It is this mentality that made me realize that I was comfortable doing the full 180 into Fashion Design.
