Alumni Reflection

Gabrielle Gray-Case

My journey at IDEAL began in preschool, ending with my graduation in 2014 from the IDEAL Middle School. After IDEAL, I moved into Oxbridge Academy, graduating in the Class of 2018.

During my time in high school, I was a member of several honor societies, including National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. I also served as Vice President of my class for two years and treasurer. I was also the community service coordinator for the Green Club, worked as an editor in the Literary Journal Club, played violin in the Strings Ensemble, and was a member of the Rotary Interact Club. In addition, I was a member of my school’s World Affairs Council and competed in the regional Academic World Quest competition – which we placed 2nd in – as well as the Brain Bee Club and competed in the neuroscience Brain Bee at Max Planck. I interned at two companies during my last two years in high school, Impact International and Biotools, volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club, traveled to Costa Rica and conducted field research, participated in the Girls Leadership Institute, and studied at FAU as a student in their Engineering Scholars Program. I found that high school was a great time for me to explore various different areas and subjects I was interested in and take advantage of every opportunity. My journey has now taken me to the University of Florida as part of the Class of 2022.

When I first began my journey at IDEAL, I was shy and lacking confidence when it came to interacting with others. However, over the years, my spirit was tended to and I grew out of my shell, becoming more comfortable with my peers, teachers, myself, and anyone else I met. As a small school that provides one-on-one time with teachers, the environment at IDEAL fostered my love for learning and allowed me to explore different subjects in a creative way. As I successfully complete my freshman year in college on a full scholarship, I believe my time at IDEAL both prepared me and nurtured me and I’m extremely grateful for the foundation IDEAL provided.
